On display at the BPM Show is Native Instruments’ latest DJ controller the Traktor Kontrol S5. It’s cheaper than the flagship Traktor Kontrol S8, and with that price cut comes features that have been left out such as a line / phono inputs for connecting CDJs and turntables and the standalone mixer function, so this is purely for use with Traktor software.
Absent too are the Stems / Remix Deck faders for each deck; you turn the stems channels on and off using the pads, you can still control the volume of individual Stems tracks by holding down the pads and rotating the Browse knob, and control the filters in a similar way. Check out the talkthrough video below to see how that works.
• The Traktor Kontrol S5 will be available this October 2015 for €799. Visit the Native Instruments website for more details.
