Korg just announced the PlugKEY for iOS. It’s an audio and Midi interface that connects to your iPhone or iPad via Lightning, and lets you hook up any Midi-enabled keyboard to control your favourite iOS music apps. It comes with a Midi jack for connecting your keyboard controller, an 1/8″ output for plugging in headphones, and a pair of 1/4″ jacks for connecting to speakers. It even has a MicroUSB port that you can connect to a power socket, letting you charge your iOS device while using the PlugKEY.
Making music on the go is fun, but iOS is also great for studio work as long as you’ve got a way to connect it to your digital audio workstation set-up. The PlugKEY seems like a simple solution to do just that, and it lets you use any keyboard that you’ve already got. Check out the promo video below, and watch out for our review of it soon.
