Gemini just announced its V-Case Music Management Software. It’s a library management app that lets you analyse and prepare songs. You can add cue points, edit beatgrids, and also create playlists with tracks that you’ve imported into the V-Case library. Though it only works with the Gemini MDJ-1000 media player at the moment, Gemini plans to make all of its players compatible with V-Case.
Like Rekordbox from Pioneer DJ and Denon DJ’s Engine, V-Case works as a song preparation hub: you import your library into it, place your cue points, and then export your tracks to a thumb drive for use with the Gemini MDJ-1000. Though you won’t find a lot of Gemini MDJ-1000s in clubs, if that’s the only thing you’ve got access to, at least you’ve now got the software to manage your tracks.
It feels very much like a v1.0 right now though, with many functions missing against the other two programs mentioned, so it’ll be interesting to see if Gemini develops it further to make it fully featured and slicker over time.
• The V-Case Music Management Software is now available as a free download. Check the V-Case website for more details.
