Once you’ve outgrown your computer or gaming speakers and are ready to get a little more serious about your laptop or digital DJing, it’s often time to look at the speakers you’re using. If like many hobbyist DJs your “studio” is a small space that demands you use the speakers you own for things other than just DJing, you’ll want something flexible and compact – and it’s you that Gemini has in its sights with its new SR series of active monitors. The SR series includes three active monitor configurations and one active subwoofer. The SR-5, SR-6 and SR-8 monitors employ 5-inch, 6.5-inch and 8-inch red-coloured woofers respectively, and the optional 175 watt SR-10Sub sports a 10-inch woofer.
The SR-5, SR-6 and SR-8 feature bi-amped designs with volume and high frequency controls, and the SR-10Sub has a crossover frequency adjustment for letting users tweak their sound to suit their specific room.
We have no word on exact technical details (we’re interested in how many connections there are and of what type, for instance), but hopefully Gemini will be able to get review samples over to us soon so we can put them through their paces here in the Digital DJ Tips workshop.
Prices (per speaker):
SR-5: US$129 / £119 / €129
SR-6: US$149 / £139 / €149
SR-8: US$199 / £179 / €199
SR-10Sub: US$249 / £229 / €249
