Audio Technica just launched the ATH-M50xBT at CES 2019. It’s a Bluetooth-equipped headphone model that is an update to the acclaimed ATH-M50x. It has volume and music playback controls onboard so you don’t have to reach for your smart device while listening, and it’s even got a built-in mic for calls. It has 45mm speaker drivers onboard, it charges via USB, and it’s able to run for up to 40 hours on a single charge. It also comes with a coiled cable for wired listening.
When it comes to home studio headphones, we love the Audio Technica ATH-M50x because of its clarity and low-end detail, plus it’s affordable. It sounds great for the price, which is another reason why it’s a favourite among bedroom producers on a budget. The ATH-M50xBT adds wireless connectivity, letting you pair it with smartphones that don’t have headphone jacks (eg iPhones and Google Pixels) plus it’s just convenient to go wireless when a bit of latency is not an issue.
For critical listening applications and music production, just plug in the included cable and you’re all set for latency-free monitoring. Watch out for our review of it soon.
