M-Audio just announced the CTRL49, a new keyboard controller for music producers. The CTRL49 is a 49-key controller with nine faders, eight buttons, eight rotary encoders, and eight velocity-sensitive pads. The keybed is semi-weighted for a more authentic keyboard feel, and it comes with a 4.3″ screen for browsing patches and virtual instruments via the included VIP software host, which lets you run any VST plugin.
If you feel like you’ve outgrown your current set-up, or you’re looking for more than a 25-key controller / two-octave keyboard, the CTRL49 is a feature-filled option. The onboard screen, numerous controls, and accompanying VIP software mean you can do parameter changes on the unit itself without having to look at your screen as much, plus the numerous faders, knobs, and buttons mean the M-Audio CTRL49 can sit as the control centre of your home studio.
• The M-Audio CTRL49 is now available for US$499. Check the M-Audio website for more details.
