Odesi, the music composition app that helps you come up with song ideas quickly, is now on iPhone and iPad as Odesi Chords. Like its desktop counterpart, Odesi Chords lets you create chord progressions, bass lines, and drum patterns to form the foundation of your production. It also comes stock with different drum sounds and synth / bass patches to give your sketches that “produced” sounding sheen.
When you’re done, you can then export your project to the desktop version of Odesi (a US$4.99 in-app unlock), or as Midi or audio to your digital audio workstation (DAW) of choice.
We’re fond of the Odesi app and use it extensively in our productions, and I’m particularly excited for this mobile version because that means that I can work on vocal melody ideas when I’m stuck in traffic, even though I can’t record into the app: all I have to do is choose a chord pattern and beat, and then hum along.
• Odesi Chords is a free download and is now available for iOS. Check out the App Store for more details.
