Pioneer DJ has launched a new range of monitor speakers, the RM Series, here at Musikmesse 2015. The RMs come in two models: The RM-05, which has a 5″ woofer speaker, and the RM-07, which has a 7″ woofer. Meant for DJ studio and production use, the RM Series features coaxial driver speakers, meaning the tweeter (responsible for producing high frequencies) is mounted in front of the woofer.
A coaxial configuration makes for a more compact monitor speaker since sound just originates from one location, as opposed to traditional monitors that have the woofer at the bottom of the cabinet and a tweeter at the top. There’s a three-band switchable EQ at the back, as well as unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR inputs.
