Ahead of next week’s Musikmesse 2016 show, Pioneer DJ just announced the DM-40, a new pair of active speakers meant for home DJing and production. They feature a 4″ woofer and a 3/4″ tweeter in a compact enclosure with bass ports in the front – ideal when space is scarce such as on top of a bedroom studio desk. Each has a pair of RCA and 1/8″ jacks for inputs in the back, and a volume knob and headphone output jack in the front.
While you can get away with tinny computer speakers, decent active monitors make practising at home a more inspiring affair, and at just under US$200 for a pair of these, you’re getting Pioneer DJ quality at a relatively good price.
