Pioneer DJ has announced the Interface 2, a compact two-channel DVS audio interface that allows DJs to control Rekordbox DJ/Rekordbox DVS software using any vinyl/CD DJ set-up. It ships with licence keys for Rekordbox DJ and the Rekordbox DVS software, as well as two timecode vinyl records. (There is a timecode WAV file available so you can burn your own timecode CDs or transfer to USB should you wish to use it with DJ CD/Media players.)
The interface is mains or USB powered, and the Interface 2 can also work as a standalone audio interface. There is a large signal GND terminal for earthing turntables that require this (ie Technics SL 1200/1210s).
This new hardware launch puts the Rekordbox DJ platform in the same league as Serato DJ and Traktor Pro, making the software platform available to all no matter what hardware mixer / turntables / media players are available, whereas previously it was only possible to use Rekordbox DVS with compatible Pioneer DJ mixers and controllers.
