In celebration of the company’s 50th anniversary, Roland has collaborated with sound designer Yuri Suzuki to create Roland 50 Studio, a digital reworking of some of the company’s most famous and influential musical devices. And the best bit? You can play with it right now, in your browser, for free.
You get to mess around with digital reworkings of the classic TB-303 “acid hour” bassline generator (click here for the history of the ‘303), plus the iconic TR-808 drum machine, and SH-101 synthesiser. Furthermore, it’s easy to share what you come up with, with the rest of the world, direct from the Roland 50 Studio page.

We’ve had a quick play and it’s a lot of fun – just go to the site, select an instrument and hit “play”. There are already patterns in there, so then you just start tweaking, add another instrument… it’s easy to get caught up in producing your own acid house tracks in seconds.
