The Lowdown

The Samson Expedition XP300 is a portable PA system package for mobile DJs. It’s composed of two compact speakers with six-inch woofers and a versatile six-channel powered mixer that has two XLR microphone inputs along with 1/4″ and 1/8″ line inputs. It’s also got a USB jack for connecting Samson’s wireless microphone system, and Bluetooth connectivity for streaming audio from smartphones and tablets.

First Impressions / Setting up

The Samson XP300 is a budget portable all-in-one PA system for mobile DJs and performers. It has 300 watts of power behind it with Bluetooth capability and four channels: two for mic inputs, one for stereo sources and one for Bluetooth playback. The system has a modular mixer that you can insert at the back of either speaker along with simple EQ controls and digital effects.

In Use

The Samson XP300 sounds decent when not being pushed in terms of volume. The XP300 is ideal for house parties and gigs in small venues. The Bluetooth functionality is a nice touch and we never encountered a problem connecting to it. Mobile DJs looking for an inexpensive and portable solution will be interested, though these are mostly for playing back music / MCing at smaller events as opposed to reproducing floor-shaking sound.

Conclusion

It may not be top of its class but the Samson XP300 is a good option if you’re looking for a cheap portable PA system that can do small get-togethers and parties. Just don’t expect a lot of bass from these.
