German boutique gear company Faderfox just released the Micromodul DJ4. Perhaps the smallest Traktor Pro 2 controller on the market today, it packs a ton of controls including a crossfader, two volume faders, EQ and filter knobs with kill switches, switchable four-deck control, and even monitoring / library browsing knobs among others. It doesn’t have an onboard sound card, so you’ll need to use either an external audio interface or splitter cable to DJ with this.
While Native Instruments recently eschewed the jogwheel in favour of more advanced controls, Faderfox has always been a pioneer in this field, making advanced, multi-deck DJ controllers without jogs or even touchstrips (ie sync is a requirement) as far back as 2004. Faderfox is known for making unique pieces of kit that are built like tanks, so we’re keen on taking this to task. We’ll let you know more about the DJ4 once we’ve got to test it in the studio.
• The Faderfox Micromodul DJ4 retails for €229. Find out more on the Faderfox website.
