V-Moda’s Crossfade LP2 are our preferred headphones here at Digital DJ Tips right now, so it was interesting to hear about this latest model in the Crossfade range, the M-100 – not least because the company claims their design has been “crowdsourced”, with user suggesting features online.
The Crossfade M-100s, available in three colours, have all the usual Crossfade military-standard design features, with replaceable Kevlar-reinforced cables and a choice of user-customisable faceplates. They fold up properly for easy storage and transport, too. But they also has a couple of unique features, which seem to be based around the addition of an extra lead socket.
This not only allows you to plug in two sources (effectively turning your headphones into a mini mixer!), but also to share music by connecting a single cable between two pairs (which they’re calling “SharePlay”), negating the need for a splitter adaptor. Is this going to make the M-100s a go-to headphone for hipster couples on planes, I wonder?
I’ll end this piece by quoting one of my favourite lines for a while in a press release, from V-Moda’s “chief visionary officer”, Val Kolton: “Speaker drivers must be carefully quality-controlled like grapes at fine vineyards…” Love it! đ
